As of the end of December 2013, Greenwich’s unemployment rate was 4.6% — one of the lowest in the state. Of Greenwich’s labor force of 29,047, a total of 27,701 were employed and 1,340 were unemployed. That resulted in the rate of 4.6%, down from 5.3% at the end of December 2012, and from 5.75% at the end of 2009.

The unemployment rate in the state declined to 6.9% at the end of December 2013, down from 8.6%. The U.S. unemployment rate fell to 6.7% by the end of last year (6.6% by the end of January), down from 7.9% at the end of 2012.
